Single-step solution combustion synthesis of porous 1393-B3 glass powders and structural characterization via solid-state NMR spectroscopy

Published in Ceramics International, 2023

Solution combustion offers a route to porous 1393-B3 borate glass powders using urea or sucrose as fuel. NMR and vibrational spectroscopy show that synthesis conditions change boron coordination, while excessive temperatures promote crystallization. The work demonstrates how processing can tune the structure of these bioactive glass compositions.
