Effect of boron incorporation on the bioactivity, structure, and mechanical properties of ordered mesoporous bioactive glasses

Boron-containing mesoporous bioactive glasses combine an ordered pore structure with rapid ion release. NMR helps explain how borate species are incorporated and why they dissolve readily, while mechanical measurements show increased hardness and bulk modulus. The study connects local structure with dissolution without sacrificing the material’s mesoporosity.
