Aerogelation of Polymer-Coated Photoluminescent, Plasmonic, and Magnetic Nanoparticles for Biosensing Applications

Polymer coatings allow nanoparticles with different shapes and properties to assemble into porous, macroscopic aerogels. The process retains the optical or magnetic characteristics of the original particles while making them accessible in an open network. This offers a versatile route from individual nanocrystals to materials suitable for further functionalization.
