Structural rearrangements during sub-Tg relaxation and nucleation in lithium disilicate glass revealed by a solid-state NMR and MD strategy

Lithium-disilicate glass can reorganize before clear changes appear in its silicate network. Lithium NMR and molecular dynamics reveal changes in lithium environments and spatial distributions during sub-transition-temperature relaxation. Complementary NMR measurements then detect early crystallization, providing a way to distinguish structural relaxation from crystal formation.
